Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you attend all six weeks and practice between classes, your dog will learn all the behaviors listed above and be able to do them in a high-distraction environment. No dog has ever completed our class without success. If you attend every class, practice between, and your dog cannot pass the final test, you'll be the first person ever to get your money back.

  • If you're unable to attend a week for any reason, let us know! We have other classes running that you can join for a week or switch to, depending on your scheduling needs.

  • Puppies need to be at least 12 weeks old and have all 3 boosters of parvo/distemper (the third of which are typically given at 12 weeks). Rabies is optional until 16 weeks when they usually get it.

But don't worry, there are no restrictions for private training, so if you need to get started before they're old enough to be exposed to other dogs, we've still got you covered! Bundle a private lesson and class to save $50 with our Puppy Package.

  • Are you worried your dog would have a panic attack on week one? Maybe they're so strong and excited that you're worried you won't be able to restrain them? Or is your dog the kind of dog who goes nuts and barks when on leash at everything they see?

Start with a free phone consultation, chances are you just need a bit of professional advice to get your class started off on the right foot. If you still don't feel confident, start with a private lesson! You can bundle it with a class for a $50 discount.

  • The trainer will most certainly work your dog. Part of the class is demonstrating how to teach a new behavior and that can only be done with a dog who doesn't already know it. However, the majority of the training will be done by you. This is important! If your dog listens to the trainer but not you, what good would that do? In this class you will learn how to work with your dog effectively as a team.

  • They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but that’s definitely a myth! An older dog might have a different learning journey than a puppy, but it can still be done and our trainer has years of experience training all ages.

  • In both behaviors the dog comes to you, however the “Emergency Recall” uses a whistle (included in the class) to call them. The benefit is that a dog sitter, walker, or anyone caring for your dog has access to this tool to call your dog back in urgent situations.

  • Dogs of all ages need to learn all of the same things. Puppies often need work on things like potty training and chewing related to teething, but many adult dogs still need work in these areas! We decided to make our Puppy Webinar free for everyone and follow a curriculum that allows for emphasis on the needs of that particular class.

  • Board-and-train services can be very beneficial. Someone takes your dog and trains them to do everything while you sit back and wait. Sounds pretty good (if you can afford it) right? It can be! However, if you don’t build a working relationship with your dog, it can be very difficult to maintain the behaviors your dog learned without you.

We have clients who have spent upwards of $60,000 on board-and-train services with other companies. The dogs are certainly well-trained, some impressively so! However the dog comes home and won’t do any of what they learned for their owner at home, so they still need to come to us to build those good habits and that relationship with their dogs. For most people, it’s worth skipping the expensive training and taking the time to be with your dog during the process of learning.

Some of our graduates!

From the trainer…

All my life I rescued dogs from shelters that were deemed unadoptable or untrainable. Through consistent training I was able to help even the most difficult dogs shine onstage and in a home. I truly believe that there is no such thing as a bad dog. With a bit of knowledge and some work, I believe every dog has the potential to be a perfect pet.
